Praise

  • Gameplay fluidissimo e grafica top. Adrenalina pura dall'inizio alla fine! È bellissimo
  • This game is awesome! The animations and the shots are pretty well done. The gameplay does take some getting used to as it is different from the first game but it is a blast once you know what you are doing. The story can be a burden to get through, but it is worth it to have a wide variety of teams to play with. As someone who loved the first one, it does differ, but once you accept that, you can enjoy it for what it is, a fun, action-packed, and fast-paced soccer game!
  • The game is amazing if you are looking for a soccer game with superpowers. Excellent to play with your friends / online. The game storyline is amazing and very long. A lot of teams to choose and the CaC customization is really good. Yes doesn't have Dream Team but those features can be updated later.

Criticism

  • Game is so different from RONC, it feels more like a fighting game rather than a soccer game.
  • Bandai Namco didn’t surprise me at all. It’s a mistake to expect a REAL GAME from them. You should have known better given that they made the game with UE5. The optimization is terrible. They’re asking for system requirements as if this were a next-gen AAA game. The gameplay is already way too clunky. While in RoNC you could take a shot after just two dribbles with ease, now you have to run around like a laborer. The goalkeeper controls didn’t work for me at all—let me put it that way. Maybe they’ll work for you. Just be aware of this when you play. The story is complete nonsense anyway. Don’t expect anything supernatural. The narrative is like DDLC—you’re just reading text like a fool. More than half of what they call “new shots and abilities” are actually taken from the old game. As for mods, they’ve been severely cut back. Don’t expect the freedom you had in RoNC...

What critics said

Praise

  • Six years after Rise of New Champions, we were looking ahead to Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters as a game that promised to elevate a formula full of good intentions. Unfortunately, Tamsoft tries to reinvent this formula a bit too hastily to deliver a fully polished gameplay experience. While the fan service in the story is a delight, the exhilarating nature of the matches, which we love so much in the manga and anime, is missing. The game has enough to satisfy even the most die-hard fans, but it will need to go back to the drawing board to deliver an experience worthy of the legend.
  • Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters can be pretty fun (albeit a bit repetitive) when you’re actually on the pitch, but it keeps getting in its own way with an excessive focus on a poorly written story, while its lack of content doesn’t help either.
  • Putting aside pacing issues in story mode and some gameplay problems, Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters offers a good and fun arcade football game with the most detailed Tsubasa lore yet.

Criticism

  • Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters fully embraces the series’ shōnen nature, turning football into a spectacular sequence of duels, combos, and special moves. However, technical inconsistencies, weak AI, low difficulty, limited modes, and a stripped-back online offering make it a missed opportunity that only die-hard fans of Takahashi’s work are likely to fully enjoy.
