Praise
- As far as action-adventure games go, Lou's Lagoon is a good one to go for. It's especially ideal for those looking for a more laid-back experience, if exploring and gathering and crafting is more of your thing, rather than combat. Although combat is present, it's light and fairly easy to deal with. Flying around in the plane is a big highlight gameplay-wise, and the story is fun to go through as well. Overall, I had a really good time playing Lou's Lagoon and got really stuck into it, and I would recommend it if you're looking for something cozy but adventurous.
- Lou’s Lagoon delivers a wonderfully comforting mix of lighthearted aviation, easygoing resource collection, and engaging mystery. While visual repetition among islander models kind of shrinks the world’s perceived scope, the superb flight mechanics, approachable crafting, and endearing storyline make it a journey well worth embarking on. Whether you are customizing your plane, decorating your beachside haven, or chasing clues through the clouds, it’s a charming adventure cozy game that I will happily dive back into.
Criticism
- Lou's Lagoon does a lot of things very well, especially when it focuses on the adventure part of the game. The setting is a lot of fun to explore, the writing is more than entertaining enough that it's easy to overlook the feeling of chasing someone else's legend, and the variety in activities means there's always something different to play with. Granted, I'm expecting a lot of post-launch polish to catch bugs, and I'm ignoring the half-dozen times I had to drop to the Settings menu to click on the "I'm stuck!" button, but when Lou's Lagoon gets out of its own way it's hugely enjoyable. In a game that's half adventure-platforming and half crafting, though, having the inventory system limit such a major part of the experience just ends up being incredibly frustrating.
Mixed
- Lou’s Lagoon offers a vibrant tropical getaway, and sucking up resources with the Swirler remains satisfying even after the novelty starts to fade. Unfortunately, cramped storage, sluggish crafting timers, and repetitive errands bring enough baggage to make paradise feel like work. Lagoon isn’t bad, but it should be your first destination choice.
