Praise

  • Starsand Island is a gorgeous, feature-packed life sim where farming, crafting, exploration and flexible home-building make it dangerously easy to lose an afternoon. But shallow relationships, awkward multiplayer progression, technical rough edges, and questionable DLC keep this beautiful getaway from becoming a destination you’ll truly fall in love with.
  • Starsand Island has plenty of elements that should make it appealing, from its beautiful island and career paths to its extensive build mode and smart farming systems. However, it misses the things that truly make a farming sim feel alive: a compelling story, memorable NPCs, and a world worth exploring. For players who enjoy checking off tasks and building, it can still be relaxing, but those looking for strong characters, emotional investment, and that addictive “one more day” feeling may find better options elsewhere.

Mixed

  • Starsand Island is frustrating precisely because its foundation is so promising. Its satisfying grind, interconnected progression, generous resources, and charming presentation provide the makings of a genuinely enjoyable farming RPG, but a hollow narrative, underdeveloped relationships, and an unfortunate number of bugs keep it from reaching its potential. There is enough here for dedicated farming game fans to enjoy, but at 1.0, it feels like a game that needed more time to grow into the experience it was promising to be.
