- The development of *The Sinking City 2* by the Ukrainian studio Frogwares serves as a paradigmatic case study of operational resilience and technical efficiency in contemporary video game production. Conceived and produced amidst the highly adverse socio-political climate of the ongoing conflict in their home country, the title stands as a strong example of the "AA" category, demonstrating how budgetary constraints can be mitigated through rigorous art direction and outstanding spatial design. From an environmental design perspective, the title distinguishes itself through an architectural approach that fosters high-fidelity immersion. The layout of the environments creates an urban topography structured around a scheme of balanced linearity, cohesively organized to reinforce narrative continuity. Transitions between various locations—ranging from utility facilities to hotel complexes—serve as more than mere aesthetic backdrops; instead, they shape a dynamic ecosystem where the ludonarrative is solidified.
- It is amazing what this Ukrainian team achieved in such a difficult moment. Sinking City 2 is the best game from Frogwares so far and a must play for every survival horror fan. I´m so excited to see what they can do next and I urge everyone to recognize and support their work. People courageous enough to innovate and pursue an artistic vision is exactly what the gaming industry needs right now.
- Pretty good game. Best one from the studio for sure. Story could be stronger, but hey...I came for the atmosphere and I'm satisfied with that so all is good. Lets hope that this isnt the last title from this franchise
Criticism
- The game is complete trash, don’t waste your time on itI practically fell asleep during the first part.
- To be blunt and rip the Band-Aid off, the game plays like a Resident Evil knockoff, if the story took place in the modern era and you replaced Yog Sogoth with Nemesis, this would basically be Carlos trying to save Jill by finding an antidote and you could name this RE3 Directors cut. That being said, the game isn't bad, I enjoy resident evil so by proxy I enjoy this. The limited resources and puzzles, make this a survival horror game in the truest sense. But I believe this game traded all the right things for the all the wrong things. What made the first Sinking City fun was it's story and how immersed the you were in the game due to the story telling aspect. In the first you had plenty of Side quests, and went around solving glues and while you had enemies, the game focused more on the lore and the mysteries inside this open world. While is pretty much straight forward. Your partner got her body snatched? what? nah, can't let that slide; lets go get it, and that's Sinking City 2. Here's a good analogy
- FROM DETECTIVE INVESTIGATIVE BEAUTY TO A SURVIVAL HORROR CLONE! I'm so sick of developers thinking they need to leech off other games in order to keep fans. I won't be surprised if the developers of Sinking City 2 get sued by the Resident Evil Franchise. Everything is the same. The exploding polyps, the sudden awakening, the different forms each one less human, the trying to save a loved one, the special fog, the limited inventory, the limited resources, and the ganging up enemies. I cannot see a single thing they took from the original Sinking City except for the fact that it has to do with the sea. Now judging it as its own game. The main character is clueless and weak. The controls are slow and so frustrating. The inventory is so limited and the expansions don't come easy. Even the original resident evil was more forgiving. The sounds were taken directly from resident evil so I can't grade them. The visuals were very subpar. It does not look much different than the first one. Definitely not

- The Sinking City 2 is ultimately worth it though because it's a tasty slice of inexpensive survival horror that'll satisfy, but you'll just wish it aspired to be something more.
- The Sinking City 2 doesn't hide where it comes from, and honestly doesn't try that hard to. It's an openly declared tribute to Resident Evil style survival horror, controls, inventory, and combat structure included. But it's also much more than a well made copy. Arkham is a character in its own right, built with a density of detail and a rotten atmosphere that's hard to shake off, and systems like the rune perks or the clue board show Frogwares actually wanted to leave a mark beyond the homage.

- The Sinking City 2 is a survival horror that features Lovecraftian themes and creatures. Developed and published by Frogwares, this sequel aims to improve upon some of the critiques of the original by veering away from a detective game to survival horror. Combat has been polished and updated. Visuals are crisp and clean, both the world and the horrors that lurk inside. The Sinking City 2 doesn't try to change the survival horror genre and instead executes its core features well. A streamlined experience, limited resources for crafting and occasional puzzles are just to name a few. Any negative opinions I have are of my own preferences, such as a dislike for limited inventory, NG+ pandering, and a day one DLC. Overall a great game that deserves the positive score it receives. I gladly recommend this one!
