  • ,,If you enjoy Metroidvanias, old-school games and atmospheric experiences like Little Nightmares and Reanimal, do yourself a favour and give this game a chance. ️End of Abyss has a fantastic atmosphere, beautiful art direction and surprisingly strong level design." Thats it, its great.

Criticism

  • End of Abyss is not a Bad game. But it has flaws to I cant ignore, but also I dont know if I even can take this critique seriously since it is low budget indie game. Like I am so happy that I gave them money and supported their studio and work, but I also have to say that i did not have much fun. Game is not easy, but that is not issue, issue is that the pace of the game is insanely slow. There are enemies that will make you question your own life since you need so many bullets to kill it that my hands began to hurt me. I am not joking my hands and fingers hurt while playing the game. Aiming is badly made so gl with boss fights.

  • This is a survival horror game. It doesn't really do anything original or innovative; it shamelessly "borrows" elements from other games (I won't even mention genres), like Dead Space, Signalis, Ada's scanner in RE2, Chronos, etc. But that's not inherently a problem if it implements those elements to create smooth, seamless gameplay. Does it succeed? Not at all: The combat is deliberately clunky to the extreme; it feels forced because, as we all know, the modern, stupid, maxim of this genre is to make aiming and movement awkward, and developers have run out of ideas to inject this nonsense. Add to that the fact that the enemies are bullet sponges and you have the perfect recipe for something we've seen countless times before, and not exactly in a good way. They never learn. The bosses are the epitome of bad design: mostly a single attack pattern, endless spamming of minions and acolytes, area-of-effect attacks with terrible hitboxes... The scanner mechanic simply adds an extra step to the typical interact

  • End of Abyss is neither a new classic nor even a diamond in the rough; rather, it is appetizing, satisfying comfort food. Mutated bodies and all.
  • Contrary to its fetchingly diminutive presentation, End of Abyss might be just too big for its own good.
  • We all know perfectly well that we’re in the middle of one of the most intense release periods in recent years. Practically everywhere you look, there’s a major game waiting for you, so the idea of jumping into something you weren’t expecting and that seemingly came out of nowhere can be quite difficult. That’s precisely where End of Abyss comes in. It’s an extremely good game in almost everything it does, but it doesn’t quite reach the heights where I’d tell you to move it to the very top of your priorities. I think that if you enjoy Tarsier’s work, you’ll absolutely love what Section 9 Interactive is bringing to the table. So, at the very least for now, this is a game you should definitely keep on your radar. And who knows? At some point, you might be able to make some room in your schedule to sit down and enjoy it.

Criticism

  • End of Abyss is a creepy adventure whose charm takes time to settle in. The dark atmosphere heightens the experience, making you fearful yet curious about what comes next. The difficulty is just right, and you won't run out of resources, letting you control enemy situations as you like. It's not perfect, and there are some frustrating aspects. But the negatives are far outweighed by the positives, and it's an immersive experience that will be hard to put down.
