Praise

  • one of the best games i have ever played , a top tier souls like game great combat mechanics ,supporting different playstyles , the combat has a nice flow , amazing eerie atmosphere bloodborne style and a big variety of enemies 10/10 for me . the music could be better , but for me it supports very well the game's backround
  • Mortal Shell II is a soulslike action RPG developed by Cold Symmetry and published by Playstack. Available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the title expands upon its predecessor's formula with a more dynamic and aggressive combat system, greater freedom of exploration, and a dark fantasy setting.

Criticism

  • ZERO ZERO. This game is garbage. Worst Souls ever. Garbage. There is no reason to play this. I wish I had a physical copy so I could smash it and throw it away. What a terrible game.
  • The first half of the game is decent, but the second half is tedious; it features amateurish level design, forgettable bosses, and a terrible ending. The game is still full of bugs even after the update. I don't recommend buying it right now.

Mixed

  • Great looking game. Armors are terrific, the art direction is a REAL art direction and gameplay is potentially great. Unfortunately that damn "freeze" before been hit it's one of the most frustrating things I've ever seen in a game, plus I really hated that teleport effect for both player/enemies attacks and I mostly couldn't find my loot in the previous death location. Sorry but in such a demanding game these are very important elements. Lock-on is broken.

Praise

  • Mortal Shell II is an original soulslike that isn’t afraid to use the genre to its advantage, only to tear down its conventions in the process. This big, entertaining game never loses momentum and improves upon its predecessor in every respect, even catching up with the genre’s biggest heavyweights. You’ll gladly forgive its minor design flaws because its strengths completely overshadow them, delivering the kind of brutal fun we haven’t seen in a long time. If the developers polish up the technical issues by the next installment, FromSoftware will have a genuine competitor.
  • Mortal Shell II is everything fans of the soulslike genre should be looking for. Its world is a beautifully depressing homage to a bygone era of fairy tales and medieval fantasies, while its brutal combat will have you scrambling for a moment of peace between fights. I truly believe they have accomplished something great here, and I can’t wait to see what Cold Symmetry has up their sleeve in the next installment of the series.
  • Mortal Shell II certainly has its flaws and room for improvement, but the qualitative leap compared to the first chapter is undeniable: this is the sequel that demonstrates the true potential of Cold Symmetry.

Criticism

  • Putting a supercar sticker on a bicycle doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a bicycle. The same goes for Mortal Shell II. In trying to be a soulslike, it ends up as a collection of terrible game design decisions that won’t keep anyone glued to the screen.
