- The RPG elements of Look Outside, farming & other elements from **** Valley, all nicely wrapped in Lovecraftian skin and viscera.
- I'm very serious when I tell you I NEVER played "**** Valley" or any game like that. Also is very unfair to name those games when reviewing this game. Welcome to Elderfield was a one time experience which I'll hardly have again. If you are in the case like me the game will be delight to you. If you played any similar games it will be even more delightful. Play it you won't regret it I tell it you that I've been playing games like for my whole life.
- Welcome to Elderfield is everything I wanted it to be back when I found it on steam, a perfect blend of farming and survival horror, wrapped in an RPG ribbon that itches my crave for another game like Look Outside, Fear & Hunger, and perhaps even **** Valley. Rarely do I get so excited to get from work and play a video game, but this does it. I love the eldritch atmosphere and the overall graphics, it's so cozy, and the game seems balanced for what it's offering (a relatively hard and sometimes even unfair system, which is the whole point, I'm not a fan of hand-holding and power fantasies in games). I'm taking a two-week holiday in October, and Welcome to Elderfield will supplement it perfectly.

- The secrets of the town, its residents, its mysteries, and its atmosphere are meticulously crafted. Welcome to Elderfield succeeds at making horror and cozy farming-sim comfort coexist without either one undercutting the other. Its art direction is distinctive, its atmosphere is relentless in the best way, and its willingness to treat the abnormal as mundane gives it a personality unlike anything else currently in the genre. Some rough progression clarity and a few lingering bugs are the price of its ambition, but they’re minor blemishes on what is otherwise one of the most confident and original debuts of the year. If you’ve ever wanted your farming sim to also make your skin crawl, Welcome to Elderfield delivers that in spades.
- People have called Welcome to Elderfield the spiritual successor to Graveyard Keeper, but I think it deserves the accolade of being called the spiritual dark successor to Stardew Valley. Stardew Valley is considered the gold standard for narrative-driven farming sims, and in my opinion, Welcome to Elderfield has shown that it has what it takes to stand alongside the greats.
- It is very hard to stand out in video games as a whole, let alone in the farming sim genre. Welcome to Elderfield takes the main gameplay loop of the genre, dips it in grimdark horror, adds a dash of excellent sound and aesthetics, and the result is something that feels truly impressive.
