Praise
- Doloc Town is mostly happy to wait while you do your own thing, although there are calendar events on specific days and job board postings that will time out. Still, if players want to take a day to go fishing, there's rarely any reason not to, and while the farm does need some attention, the bulk of it can be automated with sprinklers and, eventually, end-game devices. Exploring, plan the next upgrade, experiment with new crafting stations, hang out in town, focus on gathering a specific resource, or just chill to the soundtrack, Doloc Town is generally happy to let players plot their own course through its substantial adventure. Every new day is an opportunity to max out the farm or poke about a bit and soak up the atmosphere, or maybe a bit of both, but however one chooses to spend the time, one goal leads to another until nighttime falls. And then it's a new day, and the biggest challenge of Doloc Town is not diving straight into doing it all over again as the sun rises on an ever-more-comfortable trash p
- Doloc Town is a genuinely fun and incredibly adorable blend of farming sim and platformer set in a post-apocalyptic world, adding a genuinely unique vibe to the genre.
Criticism
- For fans of farming games, Doloc Town is undoubtedly worth trying. It offers plenty of fresh mechanics, systems, and production chains that constantly give you something to work toward, whether it is building a bigger and better farm or unlocking new technologies that make life easier. However, its rather traditional gameplay loop can feel somewhat tiring by today’s standards, while some of its finer details and player guidance are not quite as polished as they could be, leaving a few small areas where it falls short of other games in the genre.
Mixed
- A charming post-apocalyptic farming sim with creative survival mechanics and enjoyable exploration, but repetitive dialogue, weak localisation, and shallow-feeling systems keep it from fully delivering on its strong premise.
