Truckful

Truckful is a single player car delivery adventure game based around completing errands and quests for villagers and uncovering the ancient mystery that surrounds the nearby old forest. Drive your pickup truck through winding countryside roads, dusty lowlands and small towns. Upgrade the truck, improve its weight and load capacity to make it go faster through all kinds of demanding routes. Pack the bed with fragile & shaky cargo of all shapes and kinds, whether its ice cold fish that needs to be delivered fast, or a classic grandma vase that will put your driving skills to the true test. The ancient forest on the countryside outskirts is unwelcoming to visitors and often mentioned in local legends and myths. The overwhelming feeling of something lurking in the tree branch shadows is hard to shake off. Face the adversity and uncover its deep roots.

Praise

  • Truckful offers a relaxing yet occasionally tense driving experience, combining package deliveries with a mysterious story, side missions, and collectibles. Its engaging narrative and puzzle-based gameplay make exploring enjoyable, although judging the depth of the environment can sometimes be difficult. Despite some grindy Scrap collecting, Truckful delivers a unique and compact adventure.
  • Truckful‘s flow might be interrupted by frequent loading screens, but it is otherwise a pretty fun, relaxing physics-puzzle about driving through a beautiful countryside delivering packages. That is, until sudden, unexpected but much-appreciated horror elements show up, giving the game a unique and threatening element not present in similar titles.
  • Truckful has a surprisingly deep, dark story with a lot of enjoyable, entertaining characters. This carried me through the game more than I expected, and I’m glad I got to experience what it had to offer. The physics are hit or miss depending on your driving, but the core mechanics and handling are fun. The game excels in story, world-building, mystery, and, more often than not, the main gameplay loop.

Criticism

  • Truckful is a strange delivery game that shines in its genre mix, blending horror with cozy exploration. However, it also has plenty of speed bumps in its controls and exploration, creating a frustrating driving experience that could use more quality-of-life improvements. Still, once you get past those roadblocks, the game becomes surprisingly heartfelt, with a compelling story and a charming cast of NPCs who stick with you as you unravel the town's mysteries. It’s a bumpy ride, but if you’re willing to stick with it, Truckful is worth taking for a spin.
